Are you trying to identify someone?
If you happen to take care of or deal professionally (in the hospital, shelter, night refuge or any other institution) with an unidentified person (e.g. suffering from amnesia or unable to identify themselves for other reasons) and you may suspect that they are a Polish citizen, please do the following two simple things:
- check our Missing People Internet Database,
- report this unidentified person to ITAKA.
How to search the ITAKA Missing People Internet Database?
You can use the database to check if your unidentified person has been reported missing and is being looked for by ITAKA. It is enough to type in available data, e.g. sex, height, approximate age. If none of the people you find in the database looks like your unidentified person you should narrow down your search criteria and look once more at the selected photographs. Go to Missing and Unidentified People Internet Database.
If you found your unidentified person in our Missing People Internet Database, be sure to notify us urgently so that we can contact this person’s family. If you did not, report your unidentified person to the police as well as to ITAKA.

How can we help unidentified people?
- We include the person’s details in our Unidentified People Internet Database. It is the only publicly available database of this kind. Just like the Missing People Internet Database, the Unidentified People Internet Database can be searched by entering available search criteria. The database is regularly checked by the families of missing people and other persons involved in the search. They look for similarities between unidentified people and their missing person and notify us immediately in the event of a positive match. The database is also consulted by ITAKA’s Search and Identification Team each time a new missing person’s case is reported.
- We publish pictures of unidentified people in the media in order to reach those who can positively identify them.
- Unidentified people and their caretakers are offered free phone advice by lawyers and social care workers as well as professional psychological support.
